So my teacher was able to reattach the bit that broke off of the Imperial Sovereign Tankard but we have another problem. Yay, another issue... So basically what happened was someone else's work got a bunch of black spots on my tankards... and I didn't get any pictures of the spots because I was too worried about trying to get rid of them or figuring out a way to cover them up. He said just to paint over them with underglaze again. So that's just what I did, and now I'm hoping for the best. I also then painted the final glaze over the tankards, but I didn't take any pictures because I was rushing to get it done before class ended and Thanksgiving break started. Plus they just looked like the tankards themselves, but white lol
I had an accident... The little curly bit on the Imperial Sovereign Tankard broke off. I was painting the last few coats and I hit the handle on the table and it broke off :( My teacher said he would try and fix it, so I hope he can. But either way, here are the tankards with all of the underglaze done. And now it's time for another round of firing!!!
So it's been a hot minute since I've worked on these, oopsie...
But I'm back at it and this past week I've paper mached all of the frames. This was gross and satisfying at the same time, but I'm glad this step is done to be honest. Now I need to paint them! Painted some more layers and the silver accents on the tankards today. Slow and steady wins the race!
I got the chance in my Accelerated Art class to paint an old newspaper box from the city to be used for our school's paper. There were four of us in the class and two boxes, so we each got a side to ourselves. So being me, I painted some band things onto my side, because what else would I do!
I painted the accent colors and handles today on the tankards. You have to do multiple coats on some of the colors and with so many colors and details, this is probably going to take me a while.
I finally got the tankards back and have started painting the underglaze on them. I had some other things to do in class today so I din't get much done. Plus I spent a lot of time mixing the colors. I want them to be as accurate color wise as possible.
Another one done! Well the other one done actually. But, I finished the Imperial Sovereign Tankard today so both of them are now ready to be fired!!! Here's the two of them together. They didn't end up exactly the same height, but that's okay. They're going to separate homes after I'm done with them so nobody will really notice. Plus it doesn't bug me that much and I have a dealine to meet for class.
